Well, actually you can get a lite copy of max for free called g-max, also you could download the demo. If you are a student or teacher of any kind, you can buy a license for $100. The $3495 is just a corporate version hence you need this if you want to make money of the stuff you make.

If you're talking about 3ds max, is far from free. It costs $3495.
If you mean reactor, well, it comes with 3ds max, so it's not free either.

If not How much??
If it is free, where can i download it?

Thank you very much, I look forward to a tutorial if and when you have the time.
Cheers!
Oright mate. Love the tuts. Do you have any idea how to make the individual particles (i.e. the blocks in this) collide as opposed to fall through eachother. I can't seem to do it. I guess messing with the settings, yeah?

Not sure that ya mean. The blocks are all part of the reactor physics so they should collide. Have a play with collision tollerance. You can do the same thing with pflow but reactor i prefer for walls and bricks.

Do you have any idea how I could animate a bullet going through a text a breaking/shattering each letter as it runs through it?

Well, off the top of my head you could do it this way using procutter but it would be easier to use pflow. I haven't got enough room to explain pflow here. I shall look about doing a tut on it.
