The fines and jail term for copyright infringement is more then shoplifting. Hell I would rather shoplift music now then download. theft under 100 is a pat on the head with time served in court and probation for one year and a fine of $250.00, nah I think i would just do the CD jewel theft scheme, pop the back off and swap out the CD, copy it and then return it and get my money back....lol

Listen. I live in America. We do what the fuck we want. There's no threat to you. We have the strictest copywright laws in the world, but nothing stops us from downloading. No matter how strong the laws become, consumers create ways to bypass them, and we do so on such a mass scale that the enforcement of these laws becomes ridiculously unrealistic. I am very impressed, though, that this is a political issue in Canada. Here in America we're currently overwhelmed by far, far more inhumane policy.

It seems like even if the provisions themselves are not flawed, the concept of creating a blanket rule and then filling it with exemptions limits innovation because new ways to share media will always be illegal.

Liar. Plain and simple. Unbelievable... "Significant commercial violations?" "$4000 piece of complicated software to break a lock?" He's not a very good industry minister, but he's great at spinning the information in front of people who don't know any better.

This is disgusting. How do these bastards sleep at night? Oh, wait, that's right, they're quite tired after sodomizing the Canadian consumers for so long...
