We had a mouse in our house and I built a "figure 4" trap, following your idea (using a long heavy oak plank as the dead fall) yesterday night using peanut butter as bait...
...and at 05:00 AM this morning, BANG ! i heard the plank fall. A brand new 2D mouse was created !
