Wangari Muta Maathai was born in Nyeri, Kenya (Africa) in 1940. The first woman in East and Central Africa to earn a doctorate degree, Professor Maathai obtained a degree in Biological Sciences from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas (1964).

48hrs later and KBC finally puts a worthy clip to honour our heroine. That clip put by KBC here yesterday was an insult to this great woman. CNN, BBC and other international media house had worthy tribute. Wangare Maathai honoured and respected abroad but ignored at home.
