► "The Lisbon Treaty cannot be a mantra!" - Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek

European Parliament, Strasbourg, 14 January 2009
(with EN subtitles; NOTE: translations are based on live interpretations)

As the Czech Republic takes over the EU Presdiency from France, the Czech Prime Minister makes his first presentation to the European Parliament as President of the EU Council.

Since the Czech Republic has not yet ratified the Lisbon treaty, it has been under continuous pressure to ratify before the second Irish referendum, planned for late 2009.

Meanwhile, Czech President Vaclav Klaus has been under tremendous pressure for his stance over the Lisbon treaty, his support for the Irish No and his advocation for a free debate across the EU. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMZbs6zu5PU for Nigel Farage's intervention in the European Parliament on 18.12.2008 concerning the attacks on President Vaclav Klaus, when French President Nicolas Sarkozy, then holding the EU Presidency, defended these attacks.

The debate also included the financial crisis, climate change, the Russian Ukrainian dispute leading to the energy crisis, among others. This clip concerns the Lisbon treaty and related matter.

  • Great Topolanek and SUPER Klaus on 19th February 2009! Finally the truth on the hegemonic and neo-autoritarian EU project comes out! ;)

  • klaus vid coming up in an hour ;)

  • This is NOT a rascist question : " Should Turkey (and it's 72 million citizens) become the EU's biggest, poorest and most powerful member ?"

It's a geographical; cultural and geo-political question not often asked by EU elites....perhaps because they won't approve of the answer.

Good luck to lreland and don't forget to vote in the European elections on June the 6th.

  • I believe there will come a time when Turkey returns to its roots and takes command of central asia where most Turkic people reside. Perhaps a small part of Turkey - the part on the European mainland where Istanbul (Constantinople) is - will secede and establish some democrsatic republic of turkey - which would join the EU...

  • When the EU army is up and running and Turkey have joined the EU...the EU's military will be bigger than that of the US !

By then,Russia,Syria and Iran will be on the EU's borders.

I am sure that the (un-elected) EU President and Council will then tell us which country our children should die in.

« To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history « .

    ( President Barack Obama, January 20,2009 ).

  • Spenner56 - I wouldn't bet my ass on Obama - you'll soon see that he is not what he's portrayed to be... by far.

  • you know whats one of the reasons why czech oppose? cause before the ww2 germans took part of the czech ground (sudet´s)because the uk,soviets and who ever else technicaly sold us to the nazis .... the lisabon treaty gives right to the germans that moved to those grounds during and before ww2 to take the homes and such back even though they werent theyr to start with, sound fair to you?

  • "small nation syndrome" :D not czechs, maybe some other smaller nations.. Czechs just know what is it like to be under control, so nations who dont know it, should listen to experiences of post-communistic states. Btw in France is still nation called "french" ? you call it still like that ? :P

  • hello im not russian but i read the history very well . czech wanted to be controlled by russia because soviet was strong and it was good for russia . but america played a game with countries like czech and georgia and some other small countries to let soviet down.Russia always was mother for these countries even to georgia and helped all the time. but what happened to USA . Russia now is strong as it was soviet without those countries .... its just for knowledge !!!

  • Common for all peoples in Europe: DECEPTION.

Corrupt justice, corrupt politics, corrupt authorities.

Fake financial system based on virtual money.

Stupid bureaucracy, stupid laws, stupid rules, all contradictory or pluri-interpretable.

Immigration plans to set up peoples against each other.

Hoaxes, hypes, hysterics and contradictory media-reports to cause chaos and disorientation.

    Malicious practices to cause insanity.

Technical frequency transmissions to cause disillusion and depression.
