Simple foundation and roof shaping strategy for up-scaling naturalistic designs accurately into full scale size while integrating the structures into the natural, unaltered terrain. The foundation and beam approach allows exact 2-D cross-sectional profiles to be represented in the shape of the beam and the insulated columns can provide a sturdy foundation design for many situations such as building on natural bouldars, steep rocky ground and even soft ground situations can be accommodated with this custom column foundation approach. This foundation and arch truss combo allows the entire armature of the structure to be completed before any mixing of composite or fill is initiated. This alone saves important resources for a project and enables greater momentum and freedom for the sculpting portion of building sturdy shelter.

  • If you would be kind enough to show you actually using the mortar/cement on the trusses and also information on the keeping moisture on it to cure, along with finished structure, that would be great. In other words building it from start to finish.

    Great helper you have there.

  • Had camera for most projects during the plaster phase. Just too intense to concentrate on much else but plaster. Mostly only boring basic trowel plaster, not new. I must, however, show how to make thick, clean cold joints, how to cure shell with a wet cloth under plastic + brush float with a fresh paste of Portland, water & acrylic, instead of only water. You wont see this on regular plaster. Trusses metal frame on inside, doesn't get plaster, only finished armature surfaces do. More Soon

  • Doug- is all that goes between the layers of mesh is the foam? or do you pour between the meshes some kind of cement? if i build a boat would i need the 6 inch mesh formed to boxes? your way of doing this seems to be a great way to do a type of slip form but instead of slipping the form--you would fill plaster sections of the lath then fill the center boxes with standard concrete?you would get cold joints but they would be overlapped by the lath getting staggered cold joints?make sense?

  • Would it be possible to use a stucco sprayer/ hopper during the plaster phase? I have enjoyed your videos. They have given me many ides for different ways for projects I am planing.
