I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America.
And to the Freedom for which it stands.
One nation, free from Tyranny, with Liberty and Justice for all.

We the Big corperations, Oil company's and lawyers of the United States, in Order to form a more profitable bank balance and profits, establish more seperation from rich and poor, to insure domestic domination, provide for the common war torn world, promote the general destruction of are society, and secure the Blesssings of Liberty to the elected officals and the working mans poverty, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America

If you became an American citizen, you would probably have to know the Preamble to the Constitution.
-
Get used to it. You're going to have a lot more teachers and then employers wanting a lot more out of you than just reciting a few sentences.

How does a piece of paper protect anyone? How do ideas protect anyone? Go tell Cochise and Geronimo and Sitting bull and Crazy horse and thier descendants about your magic piece of paper and how it protects them. Talk about fairyland ideas you believe some piece of paper is magic and protects people. This paper was forced onto people against their will. NO one had any say if they wanted this nonsense. Lose one king gain 300 more kings

Dont forget Corsican Constitution (1755) was the first codified constitutions of an independent republic in the modern age, Pasquale Paoli wrote the Constitution of the first democratic republic long before USA, many philosophers (including JJRousseau) writers and thinkers copied out these documents to show them all over the world including the USA where even "the sons of liberty" were inspired by Paoli..US constitution resembles strangely Corsican constitution.

@dorkxxdavid you should learn the constitution any way
Right in the Preamble of the Constitution the Founders clearly state that one of the purposes for establishing the Constitution is to “promote…the general Welfare”. And again in Article I, Sect. 8: “The Congress shall have power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Exises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States”. So Congress must both “promote” and “provide for” the general Welfare. The Constitution is a socialist document.

@calamagrostis88 You are correct, I believe, in your assessment. And it's "We the People", remember, who authorized this document and the powers inherent in the Congress, "in order to form a more perfect Union."
But the document also set up the idea that Democracy will always be held under the "Ethical Subjectivity" of the day. The "Ethical Subjectivity" of our era favors Plutocracy. Sad but true.

@PresidentGalloway Yes, I think it is important that we not let the tea party claim to be the defenders of the Constitution. Although clearly the Founders wrote provisions that would secure their own power, I think that some of them also had more progressive ideas and put in enough flexability so that future generations could pass laws that would give more power to the people. And we have seen slow progress in making sure everyone can vote, that we can tax the income of the ultra-rich, etc.

@calamagrostis88 However bold our original Constitution in establishing the ideal of a "Democracy" and "a more perfect Union", we have since undergone intense--almost continuous--construction and re-construction of our civilization. By civilization, I first mean the technologies that have advanced to serve the more efficient production, allocation, and distribution of resources. Little currency is needed to acquire basic needs and therefore, way too much is left for the Plutos to play with.
