За първи път Татяна се озовава отвъд Океана през 60-те години с ансамбъл „Пирин", на който е солистка, а после пасиансът на живота й се подредил така, че останала да живее там. Никой преди нея не бил показал на американците как става звукоизвличането и колко е важна артикулацията, за да се получи песента.Сърбинска. „Навремето не ни разрешаваха да се обявяваме като автори. В ансамбъл „Пирин" обикаляхме по селата да събираме фолклор и да го предаваме за обработка. Аз взех много песни от баща ми, които използвах след това като теми в песните ми. Така стана и с „Катерино, моме". Развих фрагмента и промених първоначалния текст, в който се разказваше как една мома играела на хорото", връща лентата назад Татяна. Нейни са също „Мари, моме, църноока", „Ой, Димитре", както и химнът за винарска изба „Тодороф". Наскоро Татяна отбелязва 10-годишен юбилей на своя фолклорен състав, в който пеят само американки. „Родината не ми липсва, защото аз я нося у мен. Създала съм си там една малка България, абе, побългарявам американците, горда е певицата.

In 1999 she enrolled in the State Musical Academy , Sofia, where five years later she graduated as a Master in Jazz & Pop Singing, and a Bachelor in Music Theory, Composing and Conducting. In 2001 Dessy Dobreva became one of Bulgaria's favorite singers on the TV screen with 2 million people public attention every night. Dessy's debut in USA was on March 13 th , 2005, when she participated in her sister's Milena Dobreva fashion show, called Anelim. By Milena's request, Dessy composed the music for the show.

In December 2006 she graduated from Berklee College of Music , Boston, as a Bachelor in Voice Performance. During her two years at Berklee College of Music , Dessy received heaps of awards as a songwriter and a performer. The most outstanding are: Top song for December' 05 at Indie 104 iRADIO LA, two Honors from The Billboard World Song Contest, USA, and an Honor from The Great American Song Contest .
