Response to a video by bberchin. This is simply to point out that one does not need a deity in order to have something to celebrate or to feel any kind of meaning. This kind of thinking is not necessarily unique to atheists. Regardless, Richard Dawkins, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Sam Harris give us something we can ALL celebrate.

The song is Everyday by Carly Comando.

  • I think atheists have more meaning to our lives then theist. They think they were made to serve a god with no evidence or proof and if you don't you go to hell. Yet atheists think we have this one life to live for so instead of waiting for death we look forward for today and reflect on yesterday.

  • Christmas is just a celebration of the winter solstice ("birth" of the new sun). The funny thing is, the central origin of these theologies almost always comes back to stellar, lunar, and solar fascination, in part. Most religions of the world have been spawned from the interpretation/misinterpretation of the natural world and its dynamic phenomena. Of this phenomena, the sun, the stars and the general stellar array have been a powerful source of allegorical and hence mythological meaning.

  • @Mrknowladge I agree. Neil is such a great man. Stop watching TV and watch him instead.

  • did you know that Christmas isnt even a christian holiday, its Paegen and the catholic church just stole the holiday because they had no idea when jesus was born. They also took a lot of the traditians of the christians

  • Thank you for putting this video together.

  • @thehoodlum1919 i like to think heaven exists. or hell it might be for others. let me explain. we are linear beings and our consciousness experiences time as goig from a to b without the possibility to step back. still, if, for the sake of argument, you'd disregard the first dimension and think of time as a third dimension... wow! our short lived lives never end! that's why i believe in doing good! every smile, every nice thing you do now counts for "eternity"!

  • This is the first video i have heard a speech of Neil deGrasse Tyson, and i have to say, the man speaks with such reason and passion i am thrilled.

  • These silly theists are just trying to upset those of us who think rationally.

To believe in an idea, created 2000 years ago,yet never proved,is just stupid.

Just look at the middle east and its stultified way of life all because of some child molesting, war mongering murdering drunken lunatic who thought that a god was talking to him,I ask you.

Me thinks it was his drinking vessel that was the culprit for the voices in his head.

Freedom of speech MUST prevail under all circumstances.

  • @falleinloveshoes7 Why I like my pointless life, I can do whatever I want.

  • @12Ominous The very second we became concious our lifes had meaning. YOU now have the possibility to affect the future. YOU know what it means to suffer, and you know what it means to experience joy. Your actions affect the future lives of people, like yourself. Religious people can't give a fuck - they only see god. But I, as an atheist, can understand how I can help the future to find the same passion and love as I have for understanding the universe and living a great life with other people.

  • @12Ominous The kill yourself.
