Just as a POI (Point of Information) while the previous life would be an existence prior to this one and in that sense a "pre-existence" (more of a pre-the-present-condition-of-existence) it's best, and most accurate, to reference it as pre-mortality, or pre-earth life as pre-existence doesn't really go too well with Mormon theological perspective or Creation Ex Materia

  • Hey Hive, good to see you about. Long time no see. Sorry, but I couldn't hear this video too well. I heard the part about skin colour not being official doctrine etc. but it is believed. I spoke with some Mormon missionaries recently and one of them agreed that what was said in the Doctrines of Salvation was spot on. I recorded this so may post it here some time soon.

  • Shaz,

I never disagreed with the doctrine that was presented in the book Doctrines of Salvation, but if you'll look closely at the point you reference you'll see that there is a delineation between the perception of the author and the doctrine upon which he premises his allusion to a potential component of some skin color variances.

  • Just like Shazoolo to lie..I heard this video just fine. Shazoolo ..do you ever get tired of LYING?...[shakes his head]...false christains like you are so good at it, but at one day you will have to answer for all those lies.

  • Well I heard the video fine.

  • I think our "lot" in life may seem to be random at times, but I submit it had to "seem" that way, for it to be in actuality, any way at all impartial. Especially, when we consider it, from God's perspective.

  • Some scholars speculate that Urim and Thummin were used to cast these "lots", which would make the choice of Mathias anything but haphazard.

  • Also, if one considers the term "our lot in life" , one might look at the biblical sense of it's usage. Acts 1:26 "And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles

  • If the parable of Lazarus and the rich man have any bearing on thsi subject,it would also seem that salvation relative to human conditions is very subjective, and reinforces the principle of human "agency", rather that being born under favorable circumstances.

  • "All men are created equal" is a good standard for us as Latter-day Saints to live by.

No one today would say that a person of color is any "less than" any one else. I feel the Church leaders in the past were influenced by their own prejudice rather than revelation. It is the same of this Church that it took so long to correct it making all men equal, I'm glad i was not a member in those days.
