Ahh, my old stamping ground. Blackhorse Lane Tram stop, the terminus for the number 9 trams and the start of the central reservations that ran all the way to the outskirts of Prescot. What a mistakethey made to scrap them all instead of keeping and modernising them.
Can just remember going to the kids shows at the "Old" Regent and the opening of the "New", about 1938?
Strange that the "Old" building is still there but the "New" is well gone.

Excellent, thanks for posting. I live a few streets down from St Annes and can see that a lot is the same. The wall round the playground is still there.
The place seems a lot more pleasant then. The roads are less busy and there aren't drunks from the Sally Army hostel wandering about the place

i have lived in the swan all my life ,and can remember the trams when they were no longer in service being garaged where the netto now stands next to the green lane tavern
