  • Er, no. No one in history could have smoked Safin when he was playing like that. Few could have even beaten him. If they did, it would be by a hair.

  • I HATE THIS SONG

  • well done Marat, that was some performance, Pity for him that roger came on the block and just left him some crumbs to pick on.

  • The song multiplies the epicness by about 2.5

  • Lots of people say Federer had no competitors but when you see Sampras reaching the final of the Us open while not playing his best level, I don't think Federer would reach a final of a grand slam today if he was in that shape.

  • @davd1986 That was probably the last good yr until 2002 uso. I would say pete was ok not good.Pete level of play drop alot drastically. I think roger at 29 is better and more motivated than pete at the same age. Better technology and fitness in our time. I think pete in his prime matchup well with roger in his prime. I only give the slight edge to fed on clay. But on hardcourt i think they are evenly match or slight goes to pete. On grass pete is better.

  • the most epic thing was safin not even waiting for the ball to land and volleying a winner from no mans land, against sampras.

  • @Thutmosis7 Sampras was damn good even in 2000. I mean, you look at his record that year in slams, it's nothing to yawn about. Won Wimbledon, Final in the US Open, semis in Australia (beaten by Agassi in 5 sets), he still won another slam in 2002, more than 2 or 3 years past his best. He was actually playing really well this tournament, but Safin was on fire and he was reading each play beautifully, remniscent of Federer.

  • Nostalgia? May be, but let's face it, serve and volley game is dead. Now video game tennis has more variety than the real one. Baseline merchants plying their trade - big deal. Since 2000 clueless heads had been trying to slow the game down and look where thet brought us. They never realized that big serve volleyers were a rare breed and that was what made the game so exciting - Wimbledon finals: Agassi Ivanisevic1992, Sampras Agassi 1999, Ivanisevic Rafter 2001!!! - I REST MY CASE!

  • @Zenoandturtle i think ur just being nostalgic of course thats just my opinion

  • @daytracker and why is that?Coz Marat won,u idiot?
