This is a RESPONSE to the video charge your iPod with electrolites and an onion. Which can be seen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfPJeDssBOM

Not a how to, just proof to skeptics that it does work.

First part, just shows Zune switching on after being plugged into onion.
Second part shows all items and hardware used, also to prove there is no computer nearby and no double cables used or anything of the sort that sleptics would think of.

Wireless syncing needs the zune to be on and option is selected from settings so there's no one at a computer nearby. And I'm not going through the menu as can be seen from the video.

Face it. It actually works.

Please post flaws and I'll be glad to fix them. Once again it actually works.

EDIT: I changed the title since (my bad) the zune doesn't charge but just switches on which is the visible part. It does get some current which powers it on but for some reason there's no charge.

  • I never said I fully charged it. The video shows that some current goes through since it does switch the Zune on. That's all I wanted to show. I don't plan to charge it this way and I'm sure it wouldn't last long but it did switch on in case you haven't noticed and as I said in a post below there are no additional cables or items used and it's visible by the way I filmed so nothing is hidden.

  • all u did was use 2 usb cables, plugged one into the zune and into a computer, the other one u plugged into the onion and left the other cable hanging there, giving the effect it was one cable.

  • Did you even watch the whole video? As you can clearly see in the second half, there's no computer nearby whartsoever that's why I made the same thing again in another location to prove it... watch carefully and you will see no computer nearby... just one cable... try it yourself...

  • electrolythe ? water and salt that's it ...put your ogion in water that is saturated with salt you'll see ! and fuck gatorate it's shit

  • I'll try that sometime! Thanks on the suggestion!

  • Err i'm starting to doubt myself because the salted water i used it in another experiment to pruduce hydrogene so it may not work ...anyway don't waste too much stuff

  • Well if I have time I will try it out, I like these kinds of things hehe!

  • Mr.Hanky :D

  • Heyyy... This is cool... I'll definitely be trying this out... I have a Zune too!

  • The video is crap. We don't see the zune charging. We don't see the battery indicator before or after and it's obvious the zune already has some charge or you wouldn't see the menu screen. For the skeptics out there, the principle is sound. You can make a battery out of an onion, or a potato for that matter. As far as fully charging the zune (or iPod) goes, forget it. Zune needs 5watts and 1.4amps for about 2 hours to charge fully. That's more ions than an onion can hold.

  • I think how householdhacker did it is because he is REALLY good at editing and you see how he didnt move the ipod at all? He just filmed him charging his ipod then put the screen on the charging the onion one, thats how i think he did it.

  • it neads electrolytes
