Also, it says in Touhouwiki that the reason Youmu was taking the spring essence was that she needed it to make the Saigiyou Ayakashi bloom with the rest of Hakugyokurou's gardens, as Yuyuko ordered, and Yuyuko did so because the tree had to bloom in order to free a soul sealed inside the tree, which turned out to be her own.

@Oathblivion FYI, a yojana is the distance the Japanese Imperial Army can advance in one day, and also, the garden Youmu tends is supposed to be 200 yojana wide.

The "200 (or so) yojana in on slash" card, if memory of the wiki serves, means that she can move at something around 25% of light speed. I haven't tried to back this up myself, as I'm more or less still crying at how hard Youmu is, but I wonder what effect the time dilation of moving at those speeds would cause. Epileptic Tree Theory: that's why she is hald ghost.

Coming back to this video, I now distinctly remember Yuyuko saying that she has (paraphrasing) "Been inviting all sorts of Yokai and human's to death." She was killing people indiscriminantly because she could (also, I think it woul help with the Tree somehow). If Youmu serves her when she does that, she would assuradly serve her wishes to steal Spring.
I know, I know, I'm still doing what you said I would, but I can't help it.

Funny, because once you get there, she'll kill you again along with eleven other ghosts.

I suppose this thing about Yomou' s sword able to cut trough confusion means that the ghost cutted by that sword can become enlightened and then reborn.
