A celebration of life ~

Days ~ The Kinks

Ray Davies, 1968

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
Im thinking of the days,
I wont forget a single day, believe me.

I bless the light,
I bless the light that lights on you believe me.
And though you're gone,
Youre with me every single day, believe me.

Days I'll remember all my life,
Days when you can't see wrong from right.
You took my life,
But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me,
But it's all right,
Now Im not frightened of this world, believe me.

I wish today could be tomorrow,
The night is dark,
It just brings sorrow anyway.

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
Im thinking of the days,
I wont forget a single day, believe me.

Days I'll remember all my life,
Days when you can't see wrong from right.
You took my life,
But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me,
But it's all right,
Now Im not frightened of this world, believe me.
Days.

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
Im thinking of the days,
I wont forget a single day, believe me.

I bless the light,
I bless the light that shines on you believe me.
And though you're gone,
Youre with me every single day, believe me.
Days.

  • What a gorgeous song. It's got such an ethereal quality to it. I could swear I've heard it in church. Naah, it's too good for church.

This is one of those songs that makes me think Ray Davies is really a space alien sent down to earth to move us to tears.

  • The Kinks are with me every single day, believe me.

  • Brill at Glasto....!!! Kirsty's version just as good bless her....

  • And you?!? Prescient at the very least: Ray's new album, The Kinks Choral Collection, comes out tomorrow (11/10/09). Kicks off with a choral version of "Days." Perfectly appropriate for all but the most orthodox church.
