What song is this?

It's James Brown's Funky Drummer. A damn good song, and one of the MOST sampled songs in hip-hop.

Just figured I'd mention that this is before Tuba Gooding Jr. became a member of The Roots. He was a part of Brass Heaven and accompanied them on this tour...and I guess he was such a hit that they kept him.

Does anyone have the full video / DVD on this? What's it called? This is sick!! James Brown would definitely approve of THIS groove........

I don't know if anyone else recorded this particular performance, but I'm sure if you search for The Roots Funky Drummer, you'd find another performance of it. I didn't get to record it all because I was conserving my battery.

I have to second that Juve even though I have never really sit down and give an ear to this group but from the clips I have heard so far I have to give a thumbs up so I may have to go out and grab a couple of there cd's ------------- one

Yeah definitely give them a listen, and I don't know if you're in the NY area, but they play at the Highland Ballroom constantly now.
So many good songs. Rising Up, Clones, You Got Me, What They Do, Clock With No Hands, Adrenaline, Mellow My Man...the list goes on.
