I agree, there is the option to leave messages on server for POP3. But POP3 will still Download the email locally and retain a copy on the server, instead of just the headers.
I prefer IMAP because if someone sends you a file of XXMB and you know you dont want to read it, you havent wasted bandwidth Downloading it and you can just delete it.

hey man, adam here from New Zealand. im a computer tech for a small company.. why are you saying all of this about pop3 vs imap and the emails being sucked from th server with pop3,. if you use (for example)( MS Outlook (most versions) and change the download settin settings s you leave messages on server etc. so tell me, what actually IS THE DIFFERENCE cos what you've said here is WRONG!
