Marlboro College Graduate School will host a free, public presentation by Dr. William Hsiao, K.T. Li Professor of Economics at the Harvard School of Public Health.

His talk is entitled, "Healthcare Reform and the Future Vitality of Vermont," and will include a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.

The presentation will take place at Marlboro College Graduate School, 28 Vernon Street, in Brattleboro on Friday, September 16, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Hsiao is internationally recognized for his work on health care financing and social insurance. He is familiar to Vermont residents for his research of a variety of health care options for the state and his recommendation of a single-payer health care system.

Dr. Hsiao and his colleagues have developed a large scale simulation model that intends to assess the fiscal and health impacts produced by various national health insurance plans. Employing his systemic framework, Dr. Hsiao has helped research and design healthcare systems for numerous countries including Taiwan, Cyprus, Mexico, Colombia and Sweden, and he is currently working with universities in China to conduct a nation-wide study on healthcare financing for 100 million Chinese.

This program is being sponsored by the Grad School's programs in Health Care Administration, Sustainable Business, and Non-profit Management.
