I love the fact that he has so much energy that his solos are as powerful as the sound of the whole orchestra. He is truly a remarkable pianist!

Marvellous to hear this again,(I heard the live proms broadcast), and altho it confirms my original impression that it's just a little too fast for Brahms' colors & harmonies to "speak," the fantastic élan & fiery passion make their own effect. The orchestra & conductor are the best possible partners, equalling Hough in virtuosity. The whole concert was a marvel.

@Impressionist1 John Ogdon's is also good, but yes, Hough's is wonderful!

I heard him live in Aspen Colorado playing this concerto and he was on fire--the audiance was screaming and stamping their feet at the end.
