  • How great to see the Pipe Band in the 'old days'. And yes, John Howie only had the one arm. He was a very competent snare drummer too. He took off his false arm and fitted on a spring device which he had made and which held the drumstick. He also arranged the tune 'Highland Laddie' to be played with one hand only on the pipe chanter.!!! Quite a resourceful chappie. I think that my Dad - Tommy O'Donnell - will also be in that film but I can't quite make him out,

  • @CallumODonnell I remember your Dad well! The last time I saw him was at the Gala Day when my nephew (George Moffat) was Cornet.
