WAP 1 coupling at SBC

After a long time, I got into a loco cab. Here is a WAP -1 from AJJ heading onto PF 7 for coupling with the 2008 Shatabdi bound to Chennai. In parallel is UBL WDP-4 #20007 which brought in the Shat from Mysore heading onto rest on another platform. Location - Bangalore City Jn.

WAP-1 or WAP-4? Shatabdi usually gets a WAP-4?

@rajeesidh Its a WAP-1. The link usually rotates with a WAP-1/4. The link is the loco which brought in the morning Kanyakumari Exp to SBC.

Why doesn't the WDP-4 take Shatabdi all the way upto MAS? Is the loco change absolutely needed?

@omkar30 Thanks. The SBC-MAS section is fully electrified. So it is make sense to run diesel under wires unless its really neede, like if the train is taking a branch to a non-electrified section somewhere. Here it is end-to end under wires and hence E loco is deployed.
