the foundation of the lodge is there but it was bulldozed in the 70s due to cost of security and vandalism. the road is blocked off to cars just beyond the shrine but a good hiker can make it up the road easily. it is north of norad which is below the tv/radio towers you see on the top of the mountain so there should be no worry about mp's coming for you.

The old Cheyenne Lodge was built on a part of Cheyenne Mountain called "The Horns". There is a trail leading to it up the back side from Old Stage Road (from the West). At the top are still a few sheds and outhouses... plus the "crows nest" & foundation that LCaroll819 describes below. I have pics from our hike up there. If interested in seeing them, message me!

It's above NORAD. We have hiked up there - the road is long abandoned but makes a good snowshoe trek. The foundation of the lodge remains, and the crow's nest is still there.

My fav part, re: the Manitou Incline: "..a curious means of transportation, a cable road. There is no chance of the car breaking away and taking it's passengers for a roller coaster ride deluxe. Each car is prominently attached to a..cable, tested to 90k lbs. You'll say that even it might break. Heh heh, let it break! Two safety cables and auto. clutches stop the descent instantly. Oh..you might ask, what if ALL the cables broke? Well depends entirely on the kind of life you've been living." HA!

This is THE best video! And even better that it was produced by Spencer Penrose! What happened to the Cheyenne Lodge? "An investment of 100 Thousand Dollars!" Can you still get to it? I also love the description of the incline - "The world below is a small world to the passengers of the incline coaches."
