We continue working on the mob system. Specifically I get the lava blade trap in place and modify my spider option. Currently the spider option is all sorts of broken and I am in need of some experimenting to fix it. I also talk a lot, generally about how mob systems work and what are the most solid principles to base one on. Oh and I burn down those god damn trees.

Does anyone actually read these descriptions? ;p

  • I am trying to build a replica of this trap (best i've seen on youtube)

    Trying to work out length and width of the trap.

    Width = There are 2x 7*7 spawn pads =14 blocks + 6 blocks for the 3 canals (width inside of area = 20 (+ one block each side for the walls)

    Length = 7 blocks + 7 blocks + 8 blocks + 4 for lava = 26 blocks ( + one each block each side for the walls).

    So for the base (including walls and lava blade should be a 22 x 28? (if this is correct, you would have used 20 ladders etc.

  • @robiscool09 You can probably work it out from how the water is supposed to flow, but the outer wall is 22 blocks long in every direction. Pads are 7x7, canals 2x2. So theres 14+6 +2 = 22. So yeah its 22 x 22.

    Theres actually a 1 block gap between the edge of the first shaft and the lavablade to make sure the mobs don't fall on top of the lava. So I believe it turns out to be 22 x 27. Honestly it really doesn't matter how you make the base as long as the spawning pad levels are correct :)

  • @drakhl Hey mate, have mine up and running 2 levels so far, working well, however I built mine above ground and it seems to only work at day time because other mobs spawn outside at night time. Could i run around and put torches 32 blocks in all directions from my collection point, or should i just start again underground (p.s all caves in the area are lit).

  • @robiscool09 You will have the same problem no matter how far underground it is, because chunks are 128 blocks tall (from bedrock to sky). So you're going to have to put torches in a huge ring around the trap on the surface. Much further than 32 blocks I'm afraid.

  • @drakhl Okay thanks buddy, i'll go on a massive mission and put them half way around the map! hahah

    Have you finished the lava/water piston switch yet in your trap? Would be nice to see how it works :D

    Btw, my ceiling is 2 blocks high and enderman are still spawning and stealing shit :/

  • @robiscool09 Try fencing off the outside of the trap, thats prob where the endermen are coming from.

  • Spiders could be grabbing onto the walls

  • My new favorite let's player :)

  • That's my opinion I think its correct. Lol idk just the way he said it.

  • @drakhl Hey man thanks heaps, I am getting about half the number of mobs alive at anyone time than my last trap. But with this tower, 4 levels high, I am getting about 3 times the loot because of the high turn over rate :D
