Built in 2007/08. Serial dated on March 11th 2008.

Tasmanian Blackwood body and set neck, with Ebony fretboard.
Ormsby Handwound Humbucking pickups (Nunchucker and Old School), Gotoh and Grover hardware.

I built this guitar for fun. Ive always wanted an Explorer, so I built this along side another (Black Limba body, Indian Rosewood set neck). The other guitar sold very quickly (was still just a specifications sheet when it was placed on hold!).

The tone is great. Lush cleans, but also biting driven tones too. Just because its an interesting shape, doesnt mean the guitar should be limited to only one style of music, and not be extremely versatile.

Pickups can be coil split via a push/pull tone control. 500k volume and tone controls.

Amplifiers used were:
1. Fender Blues Deluxe (0:00 - 0:23)
2. Ormsby Dynamo 36 (0:24 - 1:48)
3. Fender Blues Deluxe (1:49 - 3:53)
4. Ormsby Dynamo 36 (3:54 - 4:41)
5. Peavey 5150 MkI (4:42 - end)

  • When the BD was playing, where did that Overdrive come from?

  • The amp. Its the guitar, and amp. Nothing more.

  • Really? In that case, this might be the video that convinces me to get this amp over the Hot Rod...

  • Personally, Im not a big fan of it's drive channel, but i do like the clean tones. Check the two amps out back to back in the store if you can.

Video camera microphones aren't good recorders of loud amps.

  • what the! u build amps as well? madness!

  • guitar sounds really nice, I like the guitarists playing style very much too

  • at like 58-1:12 are you playing a song?

    i so dig that sound

  • what is the difference of 500k volume knob ?

  • Very cool guitar and amp!

  • I love this guitars dude!!! I want one! And a Bass!!! How much is it?

  • damn i love the sound of that guitar.

    you have great work.

  • I'm pretty sure I expressed my love for this guitar on Project Guitar already. Really like it a lot.

  • I've done them back to back and I think what steered me away from the BD was the drive.

But when I A/B'd the HR and the BD, the clean completely blew me away. Nice and round. Warm too. I guess it's probably better to have a good solid clean tone, you can always buy a pedal for OD or Dist.
