Enjoying the woods, views across Porlock Bay and the exercise! We start from Lower Allerford walking up into the woods, heading towards Hurlstone point. As we emerge from the woods, suddenly the grand expanse of Porlock Bay is spread out below us. The high ground above the famous Porlock hill is seen in the distance. We eventually turn back downhill and pass through Bossington Village to the tea gardens at the Bird of Prey Centre at Lynch for refreshments!

  • great memories - I loved this walk as a child. Is there any way we could DRIVE (in a Range Rover or similar) our 93 year old mother up to the gorse and bracken area to see the view once again? Whom should we contact? I live in Canada but am coming over to visit in October. Thanks for your speedy reply.

  • @sarahmais1 Barle Valley Safaris offer a large range of tours over Exmoor by Land Rover. See their website on the Internet for details.

  • Thanks to you all for your suggestions. My mother would love to do the walk herself but her heart isn't strong enough. Well done Barbara!

  • @sarahmais1 I might also point out that the lady with the pink top in our group, Barbara is 95 years old!

  • @sarahmais1 It is a very pleasant area to explore. The paths where we walked that day for the greater part are too narrow for a motor vehicle to travel on, but there are many other routes. There are some Land Rover tours you can charter Contact the Exmoor National Park on the internet to get details. You may also be interested to see the my video OPEN TOP BUS AROUND EXMOOR.
