  • hey, i'm joining the Irish Army in a few years. Have you got any helpful advise you could give me :)

    thanks ;D

  • @oMisFiTx Good luck. Well if you're 17 while still in school I'd recommend you join the Army Reserves first as it will give you a good insight. If you want to join the army as an officer than you must have good Leaving Cert grades.

  • @shayno125 cool. thanks man. i don't think i would get the grades to be an officer so i think i will pass on that one :)

    cheers for the info mate.

i guess your in the irish army. what rank are you ?

  • @oMisFiTx I'm in the RDF mate, but someday I might go for the PDF like yourself. I'm a Pvt 2*. Only in it a year. I enjoy it alot :)

  • i am 23 turning 24 this month i am too old or would i have to go for officer training,an intelligent and helpful answer would be appreciated seriously considering joining.and if i did join would i be stuck with a bunch of 17 year olds

  • @hoganbomb86 For General Service, the maximum age is 25. For Cadetship however, It goes up to 27 I think. The chances of joining with 17 year olds are slim, especially because the people who applied before the embargo would now be older. Also it's usually the 17 year olds who would join the RDF first as they would still be in school.

  • @shayno125 Yeah the min age limit is 24. I was 22 I sent an application they said I had to be 24.I was in the reserve for 2 years only lol.

  • @oMisFiTx Hey nice! Im in the Irish army. You have to be 24 to join the actual army. If you are 17 or 18 as shayno said Join the reserve. It gives you good help. You can join as an: Apprentice (mechanic) Cadet or a Recruit :) I joined as a recruit I dont know what the rest is like.

  • Anybody know the name of the song and artist cheers.
