Controversial Unification church Sun Myung Moon affiliated corporation controls 60% of all sushi supply chains. One cannot own a sushi restaurant without doing business with them.

The reason of the high price.
For several years, a tuna price in Tukiji rises by a Chinese supplier of Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, the TUKIJI tuna is luxury brand.
The supplier who knocked down a tuna said.
”Hatumono( first unloading) is Japanese culture.
I wanted a Japanese to eat it not a Chinese of Hong Kong.”
In Japan, the tuna caught in Oma is high-quality.

Support the "Popsicles for Sharks" project. Sink the Steve Irwin in the Southern Ocean!!

MASTERNCS, you are misinformed about high price due to limited supply. American fishing vessels received an average of $9/ lb. for bluefin tuna shipped to japan in 2011.

Very Nice I am going to link this to my site to explain to my customers why they do not get rich when they catch a Bluefin big enough for the market.
-
looks like Japanese people really are stupid. paying that much for a fish is just retarded considering it probbly cost the catcher next to nothing to actually catch it (well gas money and food costs) but that would probbly be less than like 50k.

Suchi-Zanmai advertising says; "Eat here! We're insanely overpriced".

※For those who don't get used to the American units of measurement
fish name Bluefin tuna=kuro maguro(クロマグロ)
593 pound=269kg
$736,000=¥56,490,000
¥210,000/kg
This became a big news all across Japan, so Sushi- Zanmai must be thinking that made good publicity for them, in spite of the extravagant price :)
TVニュースが良い広告になったと思えば、この落札額でもペイすると寿司三昧は思ってるのかも。
