This is in response to a comment about a "Leap Frog" video. Someone had said they would like to hear this song. It is a departure from my normal type of video, but it is a good memory of my teen years, when I used to dance to this as well as to the flip side, Leap Frog. The group is the Chuck Alaimo Quartet, and they were from the Western New York area, either Buffalo or Rochester, I don't know which. This was recorded in 1957.

  • That's very interesting to know. I remember doing homework while listening to the Hound. He made my homework, go much faster. :) Thanks.

  • Chuck Alaimo was from Rochester..he was a friend of the family...I have his 45 of Hop in my Jalop, loved his saxophone playing and will post a photo of his group as soon as I can locate it. I had heard that he later became a school teacher and taught at East High School. He died young..in his fifties. A pleasant surprise to hear this on youtube.

  • @lvgallo So glad you liked it. That's very interesting to "meet" someone who actually knew him. I don't have any more of his records, just this, with "Leapfrog" on the flip side. Now THAT was some sax playing! Used to dance to it when in college in Buffalo, MANY years ago. But both sides bring back a lot of great memories.

  • Hi Linda, Thanks so much for the reply. Would be happy to send you my email, but I'm not sure how to reply privately, as I'm not much of a YouTuber. Yes, I knew "bairn" was the Gaelic word for "child," as I have some Scottish ancestors somewhere. My friends and I used to dance to both sides as well. It was a perfect combination of slow and fast tunes. Sincerely, Jim

Hi Jim. If you search LindaFairbairn at the top of the YouTube page, my video should come up, with my name above it, and a little blue box with the word "Channel," Click on my name, and under the video, next to my photo, there should be a link to "send message." That is private, and you won't be giving your email to the "world."

  • ive good never find this thanks great wish i knew how to put it on my i unes playlists

  • @mcasatel

I think I recorded the 45 onto my computer to digitize it. You can send a private message with your email, and I'll email you the track.

  • Chuck Alaimo was big in the Northeast thank to Buffalo DJ George"Hound" Lorenz on WKBW- Buffalo and WPOP-Hartford. How I love you was big with Joe Smith on WVDA iin Boston and Leap Frog was big with Arnie"WooWoo" Ginsberg on WBOS.

  • @lvgall I would like to confirm - Chuck was from Rochester. He was a dear friend of our family. My earliest childhood memories and influences were of his group playing at the Edgerton Starlight Room in Rochester. I was brought on stage as a youngster to be with Chuck as the group played. I was able to capture Leap Frog and Blueberry Hill from the 45's

  • Thanks...hard song to fing...Chuck Alaimo was from Rochester, NY....Joe

  • @peacx Hi Jim...if my name had been "Americanized" it would also be Fairchild...."bairn" is the Gaelic word for child. Anyway, I think I recorded the 45 onto my computer to digitize it. You can send a private message with your email, and I'll email you the track. I used to dance to this and the flip side "Leapfrog" as a teen. Now, I get out of breath just listening to that. :)
