Bicycle Dynamo USB Charger

I've looking for a way to charge my electronics while I excercise on my bike. I couldn't find dynamo powered USB charger so I decided to try and make one. I used what I could find and cobbled it together based on information from Instructable and other on-line sources.

Can you tell me what kind of diodes did you use ? 11V , 12 V .. or Zener ? there are alot of diode so i want this project to work flawless .Thanks alot.

I would have used : 1N4001

I'm pretty sure it will. Google the following file "ds28002.pdf" to see the specs shee. I can't post a URL here but you'll see the specs for the diodes. the 4007 is overkill but if that is what you have, use it.

@smrtcarsmrtcar Well i just came home whit 4 1N4001 diodes and 1 usb car lighter witch has 1000mW output (and on my home charges has 700mW will this be bad for the phone ?) Can u please help me to find the positive and negative sides on the USB lighter ?

Sorry buddy but you need to use a multimeter to determine the pos and neg. I can't help from here.

that voltage should work fine for usb only a bit over 500 ma... cool vid

I just let the car lighter USB adapter handle the voltage and current regulation to USB output.
