no matter if you like it or not, gitlis ALWAYS brings such tremendous spirit to what he plays...and that alone is worth a lot =)

@Violinater that s ok so what, why should u vibrate everything?it is like eating everything with salt, sometimes u just don t put it
-
I really love Gitlis' playing, but I was drawn away from him because he will stop using his beautiful vibrato on random notes. His vibrato is very sporadic.

i completely agree.
from a Brahms fan lol.

Man I wish the song is longer... I had to replay it t least five times! The song always makes me want to pick up my violin and play
-
Gitlis was a singular and special artist without equal in his playing style - free and unaffected and without pretense of any sort. A truly exceptional musician. We shall never hear anyone play like this again.

One would never guess this piece is by Brahms from listening to this...

In his later years, I was not so impressed with him. He stopped practicing in his forties- my teacher knew him personally. But SO VERY TRUE, in his youth, he had NO EQUAL- I only wish he had toured more, making more recordings for me to listen too. Just, beyond words was his playing. I would pay double, no triple... heck, more than that for any recordings of his I could pick up. You don't ever see him in Borders or even Tower Records- but I would pay a lot to see/hear him more.
please, dont compare Bell with him. Gitlis is a really genius violinist!!!!
