This one comes courtesy of the archives of Don/Brian Ogilvie. I digitized this for Don a few years back. This is a clip from the old Hot Jazz Club in Vancouver Canada. The footage was recorded in 1982.

Just a few of the noteworthy musicians is Brian Ogilvie, Alan Matheson, Michael Dunn and Kenny Ogilvie.

It's been a few years since the Hot Jazz club closed in Vancouver and we really miss not having a home base for Hot Jazz. Vancouver's got a lot of great musicians and we deserve to have one! In the meantime I feel so lucky to be able to work with, hire and dance to many of these amazing members of Vancouver's Jazz scene.

  • I should have also added that Brian Stewart is on guitar and band leader.

  • I wonder if this is the Hot Jazz located on Broadway or if it was at the Main street location? I am getting old but I recognise several musicians. I still have my clarinet that Brain gave me a few lesson for. Don let me jam with the Sunday drop in and that was great because I couldn't read music. But what a great feeling to play with some wonderful musicians and be part of the magic.

  • If anyone has any video footage of the Westside Feetwarmers from the 1970/80s I would love to see that!

  • The drummer is Kirk Smith who also played with Brian Ogilvie with the Westside Feetwramers as I'm reading the back of they're LP 40 Years Too Late circa 1977/78

The Feetwarmers were one of the best swing bands to play at the Hot Jazz Club and would attract a large following of young dancers...like me back then haha!

  • And Elaine Ogilvie on alto!
