On Saturday, April 19, 2008 Smethport, Pennsylvania residents Corky Hull, Rev. John Wesley, Jovanna Porter & photographer Ross Porter launched their kayaks at Galco Crossing (Galico) and headed north on the Potato Creek. This photo documentary is a record of their journey on the pristine Potato Creek as they head north toward the Allegheny River. All of our adventurers are members of the new Potato Creek Trail Association, a trail organization that is promoting the development of non-motorized hiking trails, water trails for canoes & kayaks, mountain bike trails, and equestrian trails in and around Smethport, (McKean County), Pennsylvania Wilds.

what part of potato creek did you guys float? I'm from eldred and am interested in doing some fly fishing there and where you were floating looked like a good spot. Thanks

We put in at Galco (Gallup Comes) (now called Galico) Crossing & went to Crossmire Bridge north of Smethport. Beautiful stretch. Great for fly fishing.
