A friend brought his TS808HW over so I thought I better do a little side by side comparison with my made from scratch TS808. My layout on radio Shack board. Stratocaster w/ Texas Specials, DIY Fender deluxe 5E3, recorded with digital camera internal mic.

  • wow. Im completelt impressed. To me your version sounds more articulate midrangey and more grainy. Superb. Sounds better than the real deal. Is there a way you would sell this pedal or an identical clone. It deserves a spot in the tone department.

  • @cagebud

There is still one day left on my e-bay auction for a clone of this pedal. search "handwired ts808"

  • question: did you do the point-to-point wiring in your pedal?

  • @baghaturyan I made my own layout for the schematic that allows me to pretty much connect the components directly to each other by hand on pad per hole perfboard with minimal jumpers and wiring. If you look at some pictures of the Genuine TS808 Handwire you can see how much wiring they had to do to give it the look of a vintage p to p hand wired amp with all the components in a row. I'll try to post some pics of the guts.

  • cant upload pics to here. this actual pedal was the second one i made and it does have some wires from the board to the pots. But I have since revamped my layout to have the perfboard mounted directly to the pots and the clipping switch. so the only wires needed are the standard True Bypass connections, In, Out, 9volt, and grounds. I have pics on Myspace in my music gear album.

  • nice pedal good build cheers

  • The HW is more puch and clarity The HD is more mid range and less punchy. Both good. All ears are different .

  • Hi ! youre pedal sounds great off what I can tell from this video , does it sound just as good as the original "in real life" ? If it does I would realy like to build me one of those to, I dont know if you want to put up a link to the site there you found the sheamatics but I would be glad if you did share :) Cheers !

  • You must admit to yourself how open the real TS808hw is eh. I build pedals and I also dont know how on earth Ibanez done this. analogman says it too, he wouldnt have a clue how they made it so amazingly open. Your pedal is great, as is my clones, take a look at my videos aswell, but they are slighty muffled, or more accurately, warmer sounding. But i think the NOS "or" restamped new release un-obtainable JRC4558D IC chip ibanez used is the key in that pedal. Wish i had a ton of those. :-)

  • sounds the same to me, but then again you don't have it miced up so nobody can really tell.

  • if u used the same parts y do they sound different?

    u used different settings right?
