Air Date: November 18, 2011

Host: Jim Schneider

Guest: Dr. E. Calvin Beisner

Dr. E. Calvin Beisner is a spokesman for the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. He is also an author and speaker on the application of the Biblical worldview to economics, government and environmental policy.

This Crosstalk looks at a key energy topic that could have great economic advantages for the U.S. The 7 billion dollar Keystone XL Transcontinental Pipeline Project is a pipeline that would bring oil out of the oil sands of Alberta, Canada, to U.S refineries in Illinois and Texas. The problem is that the State Department is holding up this effort which could mean that this oil will instead be sold to China and India, a process that would actually increase the risk of an environmental accident. Dr. Beisner describes the risk/benefit factors to help amplify the illogical nature of the opposition to extension of this pipeline.

Jim and Dr. Beisner also discuss the use of ethanol, the EPA's mercury restrictions, the Solyndra debacle and more.
