For those of you who have young tegus my only suggestion is to spend a lot of time with your them. The more time you spend with them, the better your relationship with them will be.

  • I use the same technique with my 3 yr. old red tegu (Vorenus) It works, he's always curious and comes to say hello and get scrubs when one of us opens the cage. On the down side he has a limit to how long he's willing to be held, anywhere from 5-15 min., then he does a hellacious alligator roll! Might be my fault for making him such a nice cage. Keep up the good work with your boy...and the kids!

Good luck with your red and thanks for your comment.
