This is the promo of a documentary that's going to be released soon, refering to the encounter of young activists from the African Continent and its Diaspora who got together at the Gorée Island in Senegal - one of the three main slave-shipping point from where enslaved Africans were brought to the Americas for three and a half centuries. Na nga def? (How are you?) was a greeting in wolof, which youngsters from Diaspora repeated daily while in Gorée during 30 days of July 2008. Special thank's to Nomadic Massive, the hip hop group from Montreal (Canada), who has gently allowed us of using its music on this video.

  • @Caqui "Maybe that girl has never heard of Carnaval, or of Pele or Capoeira"

well she hasn't but now she knows and can tell other people and be that as it may for African American but its not always good exposure

  • @Caqui As an African from Ivory Coast, I can tell you that ignorance about the Diaspora is a disaster! My mother is Caribean (from Guadeloupe) and after so many years in Ivory Coast she is still blaming this ignorance.

  • "No offense, but I was surprised there were black people in Brazil."

    This infuriates me.

African Americans get a lot of exposure; ok, there are a lot of people of African ancestry in America. But, studies show Brazil has the most African descendents of any country outside of Nigeria (if not more, according to some). Maybe that girl has never heard of Carnaval, or of Pele or Capoeira, and I'll blame her ignorance, but I feel a lot of people around the world don't realize how black Brazil is.

  • This is great i enjoy hearing about efforts like this to empower and bring people of the African diaspora together, personally im working towards spending time and taking social science courses in Salvador Bahia and among other places i cant wait to see the whole documentary, Demetrius

  • Black women are beautiful. This is lovely. It's sad that that lovely with those GORGEOUS shaped eyes had past away.

  • Great program: Jus wish it will continue on to the lager stages, well done.

If we did not help ourselves,no one will help us like the way it shud be.Its un-natural for what we r not doing for AFRICA. Thers alot of social network, wer we come together & talk about our xperiences, we can learn whatever the differences.

I LUV U ALL MY QUEENS.
