Actually, you can force them blazes into spawning where you want, using the 8x8x3 area. If the whole area except a couple cubes are occupied with whatever block you choose (or torches, for that matter, you can "stun-block" them on spawn, and kill them quite easilly. Funny enough, my first blaze spawner was ALREADY blocked by soulsand. Good times farming blaze rods there for ages.
