@earthwormjah dialogue, mutual respect, mutual fairness and civility can often lead to peaceful agreement. if you and i, two random strangers, can achieve it on the internet, shouldn't world leaders be able to achieve it in 60+ years?

@sherhak I think we basically agree. Israel should negotiate for peace, but at the same time it has every right to defend it's citizens against terror militarily.

@sherhak Thats simply not true, I have lived in Israel and the vast majority of Israelis are pragmatic and secular. The Haredim and ultra-right wingers are a small and vocal minority, as are the folks in the video above. Israel has swung to the right, but after ten years of Intifada I can't say i blame them. If the Palestinians give the Israelis a real, credible, non-violent deal for a two state solution they will take it.

@sherhak I did know that, and I will admit that the 36 Jews living in Bahrain enjoy freedom of religion, but a cynic might speculate that the reason Bahrain appointed a Jewish ambassador was to curry favor with the U.S and Israel so as not to end up as an Iranian firebase (Bahrain is not exactly a military superpower). As for Iran, secular Persians might not be anti-semitic, but to call Ahmedinejad tolerant would be a stretch, to say the least.

@earthwormjah did you know that the bahrain ambassador to USA is a young jewish girl?  how's that for love and support of jews and muslims for one another? that iran president donates much of his personal money to a jewish charity hospital which he deems as the best medical facility in iran, and which muslims line up to attend and support?

@earthwormjah nothing utopian about co-existence. history of 1400 years proves that jews and muslims have not only lived together, but have thrived together just as still do in iran. so it's the occupation ONLY and not some malicious religious or racial hatred. granted that there are always small groups of intolerant jerks among any population, including jews and muslims and christians.

@earthwormjah another point is, i don't believe majority of israelis are moderates. unfortunately majority are very much to the right, ultra nationalistic and ultra religious. also, while true that israelis don't make bombs of their bodies as palestinians do, that too is easily explained by the fact that they have one of the best armies in the world doing that for them, they don't have to do that unlike the hopeless and desperate palestinians who feel that's the only option they have left.

@earthwormjah everything you say about palestinians, approving of terror attacks, hatred and lack of acceptance of israel is indisputable. but it's all clearly explained by the occupation/blockade/oppression­/aggression of israel for decades against palestinians. if palestinian demands are capitulated by israel, and there's still terror, then by all means, israel should do as any world state faced with a hostile neighbor, per international law, up to and including military action.
