There once was a town named...Centralia

Since YouTube and WMG decided to pull all audio from this video, I decided to upload this interesting interview from St. Patrick's Day 1997. The voice of Shamokin, WiSL's own Tom Kutza interviews Joseph John "The Polish Leprechaun", a one of a kind resident of Centralia who recalls the towns past through songs and jokes. Towards the end of the video The Leprechaun delivers a heart felt summation of his home town of Centralia in the tune of "Give My Regards to Broadway". "There once was a town named Centralia" covers a brief history on the underground mine fire that has been going strong since 1962. There have been many attempts to try and extinglish the underground inferno but nothing worked. Today, Centralia is comprised of 12 citizens compared to the 1100 present during the mid 60's. This was a high school project of mine and since then I wanted to do an indepth coverage of this town and it's history. So this is the town that inspired Cristoph Gans movie take of Silent Hill? Interesting man, i didn't think this was based on a real place. So this underground inferno's been burning for more than half a century? thats f*cking crazy, just crazy, just think of the bodies or evidence you could dispose of down there. You want to get rid of your boss or your ex, then dump them down there, and burn the evidence. Jokes aside, surely all those pipes venting (carbon dioxide/monoxide?) cant be healthy!

Unless Nature resembles a Pennsylvania DOT bulldozer... Nature has done nothing to the town physically.

The houses were bulldozed simply to stop people from moving back to town and taking up their mineral rights agian.
