thank goodness the drug addicts didnt take the copper, to shut the walls out and sell it to buy more drugs. So now the only ones that work are in Wallsend :D If it happens again ill know who to thank.
I WAS PREGNANT WITH MY SON, MY DAD WORRIED THAT I MIGHT GO INTO LABOR AND WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET TO A HOSPITAL, BUT AS FATE WOULD HAVE IT I DIDN'T HAVE HIM UNTIL MAY 20, 1977
I was there to witness it all. I was 15 years old at the time of the flood. About a couple hours before the water came over the flood wall my mother, myself and a sibling went to the Pineville hospital to get to higher ground. There were others. The Red Cross provided army cots, sleeping bags and food. Once the water went down we were then taken to Clear Creek Baptist School and they housed us for a short period. The flood was very devasting to alot of families!
I was living in Pineville when the flood of 1977 hit and it was a something to witness. From my vantage point along Bird Branch the world looked like a giant lake covering everything. If I remember correctly it snowed while the flood was on.
i didn't Live during the flood but my dad said that after everyone had lost so much lots of people left! they moved away to start over, he lost alot of friends from school because of that!!!
