yYea your right the moody blues have that angel choir effect that they do with multitrack recording and have a hard time getting live [so they use girl background singers ]but i wouldnt call the fortunes a garage band if you ever heard their harmonies on maria from west side story .

To me, The Fortunes were more pop than the Moody Blues were. Not putting them down, but they had more of a garage band sound. The Moody Blues had better harmonies, more "together" guitar work.
