Parody of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" about Target's agreement to exclusively sell Lady Gaga's upcoming deluxe album that was cancelled by Lady Gaga due to Target's donations toward anti-gay politicians.

Parody: Sean Chapin

LYRICS:

It matters if you fund him, or capital T-O-M (Emmer)
...I gotta ask you, Target: Are you anti-gay?

My Gaga told me in her new song, "we are all born superstars"
She dedicates her life to all her monsters everyday no matter who they are
And then you said you were the only one with her deluxe album in May
With everything you did in twenty-ten, you better listen to me when I say

I'm feeling very betrayed because you think it's O.K.
To fund these bigot politicians who are anti-gay
They'll take our freedoms away, our dignity will decay
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay
Throw our civil rights away, Target are you anti-gay
Target are you anti-gay
Throw our civil rights away, Target are you anti-gay
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay

Don't be a square, just be ahead.
Don't be a square, just be ahead.
Don't be a square, just be ahead.
Just be

We know you gave a hundred fifty thousand for Tom Emmer to be governor
We understand that you apologized and said you value our diversity
But later on you turned your back on us and gave thirty-one thousand more
With everything you did in twenty-ten, you better listen to me when I say

I'm feeling very betrayed because you think it's O.K.
To fund these bigot politicians who are anti-gay
They'll take our freedoms away, our dignity will decay
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay
Throw our civil rights away, Target are you anti-gay
Target are you anti-gay
Throw our civil rights away, Target are you anti-gay
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay

Don't be a square, just be ahead; embrace equality instead
Soon we'll have our holy grail; our fight for justice will prevail
Just look where all your money went; their ignorance will not relent
Their fables are their expertise; their hatred is a sick disease

No matter what your intent, the reasons that you present
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay
Now Lady Gaga has said, your deal has come to an end.
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay

I'm feeling very betrayed because you think it's O.K.
To fund these bigot politicians who are anti-gay
They'll take our freedoms away, our dignity will decay
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay
Throw our civil rights away, Target are you anti-gay
Target are you anti-gay
Throw our civil rights away, Target are you anti-gay
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay
Are you anti-gay, hey; are you anti-gay, hey
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay
Are you anti-gay, hey; are you anti-gay, hey
I gotta ask you, Target are you anti-gay

  • Lame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thesenia143, how is it lame?

  • im against gays because theyre trying to change an aspect of their lifes that is supposed to be unchangeable. If i could change my life in the way they are trying to do, id had born in a rich family and practice moto x, id be a pilot and do alot of things. but my life is shit, im a bus driver with a minimun wage. Anyway they'll pay cent by cent this whim by being pointed and all the time discriminated. God Bless America

  • @caballoalizeero, gay people are made as gay and discover it as they grow up, and though many have tried to change their sexuality mostly due to unfortunately misguided societal pressures, being gay is something that's impossible to change just like height and eye color.

  • But I won't boycott a company just because their preferred candidate is less than gay friendly. If a boycott against target were ever successful their would be a lot of people including fellow gays and lesbians out of work. I will also remind you that target has domestic partnership benefits and sponsors Pride in the twin cities

  • @OpheliaCoxx, we have choices as consumers to support businesses that support us in return, and if I had a choice in where to shop, I would rather support a company that doesn't act toward taking my civil rights away. Also, former candidate Tom Emmer wasn't just less than gay friendly - he would have outright oppressed gay people. Moreover, if a company sponsors LGBT events and offers benefits to LGBT partners, then it is confusing that Target would act to compromise their LGBT contributions.

  • agreed, great message... and woof !

  • @andrewutube1000, if I could ask a few questions, how does gay marriage affect anyone else's marriage, how is homosexuality an abomination regardless of whatever religion anyone believes in, and what exactly makes the gay community a radical left agenda?

  • @OpheliaCoxx Such a typical American response, defending the indefensible act with irrational logic. No critical thinking skills. Who cares if they sponsor pride, pride does not help legislate our rights, Elmer changes laws and effects us at a fundamental civil level in a negative way, pride is a huge party. If these are your principles, then you are shallow. A party over your legal rights. Get real! And get some common sense.

  • Target is a large corporation, and Republicans tend to represent the interests of large corporations. That's why the donations happened.

  • This is excellent - the lyrics, the singing..... everything. Are we really talking about Target, the store? I feel embarrassed that I ever shopped there. Target better hurry up and answer the question, and give the correct answer, otherwise I promise that I will never be back.

  • There is no simple answer to this, but I ask you to find a fellow GLBT person out there who works for Target and ask him or her what is more important to him/her a job or civil rights, and most people will tell you in this age of high unemployment a job is more important. I went into business for myself because after 7 years of college and a masters degree I could not find a job, I had to declare bankruptcy, feed my family on what my partner made and food stamps.
