When it comes to disarming an attacker lets look at it this way - he has a gun, and you dont. If they're that close, they got the drop on you. You're at a big disadvantage and they have a weapon which means your chances of survival are drastically reduced. get the right mindset - act, or die. Also remember yes, you might get shot, but not all shots are lethal. Accept the ultimate consequence, then defend yourself

Here's some food for thought, people. If it didn't work then why would they teach it?
Do you honestly believe that modern armies everywhere would even bother teaching something to their soldiers if they weren't sure it was effective?

This is why it annoys me that people pull a gun on another person when they are so close to them. They are neutralizing the advantage that the gun gave them.
