  • To find a more practical application would be quite useful in the design techniques with rail/coil guns, but what the military does with them is their buisness, not ours.

  • The biggest problem with rail guns is that the metal-on-metal at mach 7 produces TONS of heat and causes a loud bang and plasma flash. It also tears the crap out of the rails, limiting the number of times you can use the rails. Coil guns are much "cleaner", as the projectile doesn't need to make contact with any thing, and as a result there is neither a flash nor a bang.

  • @usarmycaptainamerica : really? how about a more efficient method of launching things into orbit, like satellites or spacecraft for exploration or research? there doesnt always have to be a destructive application to something to make it useful or practical. For instance DARPA created the internet as a backup communication system if RF was not available. Look how practical that became in uniting the world through news, media, and commerce.

  • There is no more practical of an application for this tech other than warfare.

It will be a great tool to protect our country when the delopment of this tech reaches fruition.

  • lol ISEF i was at CWSF and i did the same project nice!

  • wtf? its like an introduction, a big leadup and then...nothing...is there a part 2?

  • useless vid

  • Hey Alex! It's Emily! Good job in the interview! :)

  • Alex? This is interresting stuff!

I'm studying physics now as well.

  • What are the results? Do you have a link outside of Youtube. Is the video poster the person in the video?
