This young bird was found abandoned in my backyard today,I think it was rejected by its parents :( it has a swelling or abscess on it right eye. Once I was finished filming its arent flew in, happily I left it, hoping it would be taken back... sadly that wasn't the case. RIP little bird.

Filmed with canon HDV hv20 @ 25p, editied in premier pro 2.

  • I've heard that when you mess with baby birds their parents reject them.

  • The bird had been their for hours if the parents were going to help they would have. i wasnt going to just leave it to get picked of by something else.

  • RonBurgundy is right. The fledgling bird may fly away and may end up on the ground. The parents can aid the bird to a future and can identify the specific chirp (Robins anyway). Best thing to do is leave it if no predators are around. Otherwise the bushes are good cover to get the baby to till parents aid, but no touch. Typical mistake. Also don't mess with fawns in the grass. They are not lost or abandoned, mother is off taking care of business while baby hides. Also no touch.

  • watch this in high def!

  • DUDE!!!! It was a fledging bird...the parenst didnt abandon it...they were watching it from a distance...this happens all the time. You touching it and messing with it killed it. Sorry to say. Google it...always leave birds with feathers on the ground alone. Parents keep a watchful eye from distance and feed it.

HOPEFULLY people learn from this. :(

Not trying to hurt your feelings. Sorry. Its an honest mistake. Your heart was in the right place.

  • Hey, good quality. I have an Hv20 but when i put the video on youtube it doesnt look nearly as good as this! and this is just standard quality. Please Tell me the secret :P

  • Congratulation on the camera, I would like to have one too.

I can't say I liked the film though, and I apologise for saying so.

I'm sure you're a good well intended person.

But the video is just a bit cheap and in poor taste. And the music only makes it worse.

Animals are not toys. And if you were really concerned maybe you should have taken proper care of the situation.

  • Try and make better use of your imagination next time and find your self a decent subject to play with, I'm sure you're capable of that.

And by the way, to save the life of a baby bird it's a difficult thing you need to have the commitment and dedication to feed it every two hours with appropriate food.

And another thing, the heat of our hands it's bad for them. So you should try to handle them as little as possible. Besides most birds reject there babies if they have been touched.
