Um, I don't care if this opossum was trying to eat my chickens. He's friggin' cute. I love how impatient Justin is getting with me as I'm frozen with fear holding the camera. Subscribe to http://youtube.com/genghisgirl for more chicken videos!

  • oh my ... I used to think opossums were cute ... until it showed me it's TEETH !!

  • @elli0grn08 Hah! I was totally freaking out already... I might have died if it showed me teeth!

  • Ew? Adorable?

  • @quitejaded I'm a sucker for ugly :) I also love hairless rats, turkeys, and baboons.

  • That was hilarious!! GREAT video...but really, as "cute" as the Opposums are (and I really do love them...caught, saved and raised many), you should know that not only will they steal and eat your eggs but they'll also kill your hens. The hens know this, which is why they were screaming. :o)

  • I knew it! We just installed new security fencing for the coop and close it up at night, so hopefully this works. We haven't seen him around since that first night. I think he was afraid we would try to cuddle him :)

  • my cousin owned some hens and a rosster they were evil two entrances two blocked the doors and the rooster w as chasing me it was funny

  • :)

We like him, so I'm glad to hear that... I haven't seen him since the incident, but I'm sure he's lurking around. Luckily, I have VERY cool neighbors who are a little in debt to me for their own shenanigans... and I'm also a member of the town zoning board ;)

  • He's just looking for a meal, Opossum are not enthusiastic hunters--if you leave out something else that is an easy meal he won't bother the chickens.

They are very good pest protection, they eat mice, rats, snakes, roaches, etc.

Don't carry diseases and get along with cats and "polite" dogs, what more could you want.

I wish you luck on the chicken venture --your biggest threat will be your neighbors- I speak from experience.

Check out the tame possums on my page.

  • omg so cute :)
