Ecological corn cob blasting for wood refinishing.. The purpose of this video is to show the effectiveness of soda blasting with corn cob on a delicate surface restoration such as this indusrial bow roof. This former commercial building will now house a brew pub. The quality of the look after refinishing inspired the owner to change his interior design plans to leave the wood exposed so you could see the warm honey of the natural pine.
The intent here is not to show how fast a soda blaster can strip a coating (although it does) but to show soda blasting as a restoration tool having the ability to not just strip coatings but that it can also layer and feather the coating removal. And finally, to show completed results which have not damaged the beams or underlayment surfaces.
This restoration project is removing years of years of aging and cement slurry. This removal rate will normally vary from approx. 100 sq. ft. to 250 sq. ft. per hour depending on type of paint and number of layers of coating. Square footage can be increased by using larger air compressors and larger tip sizes.
The H258-HO-LP (High Output- Low Pressure) All-Media Soda Blast pot manufactured by Eco-Blast.Com, LLC provides ecological quality stripping action without damaging the surface. Surface damage to the substrate is reduced or eliminated by being able to control the energy applied to blast the surface using ecological blasting soda at blast pressures as low as 30 PSI.
