It is performed during power plant commissioning to verify that all the debris from construction is removed or "steam blown" from the high pressure steam piping. Polished brass targets are inserted into the steam path and once no impacts are detected the piping is restored and made available to the end user (usually a steam turbine). Thanks for the question. Look at my other videos of Fuel Gas Blows. We do gas blows prior to allowing gas to go to a combustion gas turbine.
