@weissmann07 simply not true, many azeries, such as qajars, afshars, qashkars, javanshirs ... ect, can trace their tribes directly to central asia. the core of the azeri ethnicity is turkic, no doubt many of the indigenous inhabitants went through a tukification process, but there is no evidence that this process was a violent one, but rather a peaceful evolution. this doesn't make azeries any less of a turk. comments like yours trivialize the azeri ethnic identity, and are simply racist
