(AP) Roseville— A domestic violence call about 5:30 this evening turned deadly when a 42-year-old Roseville man on the 17000 block of Eastland fired a shotgun at police and then aimed the weapon at a neighbor, police said.
The suspect was armed with the shotgun and 9 mm handgun, Roseville Deputy Chief James Berlin said.
"The officers did not fire back until they saw a neighbor come home. (The gunman) pointed the gun in the direction of the neighbor. The officers fired and struck the individual," Berlin said.
The gunman, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
No officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire.
The amount of shots fired was still under investigation Monday evening. Police were also investigating as to whether they have had other domestic calls at the home.
